Did you know you can cook eggs in the oven in a muffin tin??? I had no idea. I learned that today and of course I had to do it. We're going to the Temple tomorrow and I wanted a quick breakfast to get us out the door on time without any mess to clean up. I love egg mcmuffins, but I can't ever get the eggs right. I love how at the fast food places they're perfectly round and fit on my muffin. Anyway. I discovered they can be cooked in muffin tins. I promptly went out and got my free jumbo muffin tin. (I had a coupon for $10 free at True Value). You can use regular muffin tins, but the jumbo ones are almost exactly the perfect size. A tiny bit smaller than my english muffin. Bake at 350 for 15 min. So easy. Here's my finished product.

Time Flies

Well the chickens are now in the Chicken house and loving every minute of it. Unfortunately I left the door open to let them free range and my dog killed half of them. But that's just a dog doing what a dog does. On the brighter side. It is so beautiful today. We've had lots of rain, but today it's clear and perfect outside. I've been weeding my strawberries and raspberries. It's so exciting for me to see how the plants have spread since last year. We already have some blossoms on the strawberry plants. I love living in the country. It's so peaceful. We're also boarding some horses on the property. The kids and I have had a great time feeding and petting them. D. even got to ride one. Ahhh the simple life. Now if I could only get my hands on a Jersey Cow.

Dead Rooster

In the back of my mind I knew that letting my 2yo pick up the chicks was probably not the best idea, but she was having so much fun. Now I know It wasn't. My favorite rooster is dead. I think she broke his neck. When I turned around and saw her holding him and he wasn't squawking I new. Then she said baby night night. I was so sad. He was always the first to run up when I put my hand in there. Oh well I still have 31 more. I'm sure another one will be just as friendly.

My dog loves to chase rabbits. I think that's a great thing and she keeps them out of my garden. It's great until they wind up all over my front yard. This morning I spent an hour outside raking up rabbit parts. Yes that is what I said. Rabbit parts. Nothing like smelly rabbit parts all over your yard. No thank you. Next year I'm going to have to do something. The trouble is, what do you do. She's a dog. She's just doing what dogs do. During the winter it was pretty comical, but that was only because they were frozen. On a happier note the chicks are still doing good. We still have 32. They're starting to get more feathers. I didn't realize it happens so fast. They're funny.

The kids are having so much fun with the chickens. They discovered that the chicks will eat out of their hands. We had 1 chick die yesterday and I'm afraid we'll have another one gone tomorrow. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I know we'll lose more than these.
